What is the Commercial Lending Analyst’s role?

The Commercial Lending Analyst’s job involves the sale of complex commercial financing solutions to large-scale commercial businesses and some business development of new clients. They originate all applications for credit and perform the risk management activities for a senior portfolio of mid-market accounts. Financing solutions include commercial credit products and loan structures, cash management products, card services, and related products, franchise credit, and syndicated loans, as well as referrals to Investment Banking and specialized partners. Although the responsibility to sell additional services is the chief responsibility of the Commercial Lending Relationship Manager, a “Best in Class” Commercial Lending Analyst will seek new revenue opportunities as a matter of course.

What are the responsibilities of this role?

  • Critically assessing a client or prospect’s overall business and financial position as a potential borrower
  • Completing formal, comprehensive credit applications/reviews
  • Monitoring and oversight of portfolio management. Performs regular daily, monthly etc. monitoring of accounts to ensure that each remains within terms and conditions of credit limits
  • Resolving problem situations where accounts are outside of the conditions of loan approvals (beyond credit limit excesses noted above)
  • Contributing to the attainment of growth/revenue objectives and appropriate risk/reward balance
