What is the Branch Manager (Bank) role?

The Branch Manager is responsible for achieving branch business goals at a bank branch while implementing and monitoring compliance with bank policies and procedures as well as maintaining operational integrity. To be successful the Branch Manager requires a broad knowledge of retail banking products and services, in-depth knowledge of personal credit and mortgage lending (including small business credit), and must be familiar with the information contained through in-house systems. They also require familiarity with transaction processing, teller functions, mutual fund sales, referrals to other business partners, and complaint handling. In some cases, the branch manager of the bank is also the mutual fund compliance officer and is thus responsible for ensuring branch compliance with regulations pertaining to mutual fund sales and distribution within the branch.
